Withings, a global leader in connected health, has unveiled BeamO, a 4-in-1 health checkup device that will become available in the United States following FDA clearance. The device combines ECG, oximeter, stethoscope, and thermometer sensors to transform the thermometer into a powerful tool for regular monitoring of heart and lung health. BeamO is portable and smaller than a smartphone, designed to help individuals and families perform at-home checkups and substantially improve the quality of telehealth visits.
BeamO uses multiscope analysis, which enables it to conduct a medical-grade 1-lead ECG while simultaneously measuring blood oxygenation (SpO2) and heart rate. It also takes accurate and stable readings of the body’s core temperature by scanning the temporal artery without cutting into the skin. This is done with a second-generation hotspot sensor that narrows the focus of the infrared beam so that measurements can be taken without touching the body.
A cutting-edge digital stethoscope captures chest or back acoustic sound waves through a piezoelectric disc, allowing users to achieve precise heart and lung measurements. With intuitive tutorials, users can achieve precise heart and lung measurements. Results can be heard through headphones and seamlessly transferred, stored, and shared in the app. During telehealth sessions, audio streaming enables physicians to guide device placement and focus on specific areas of interest.
BeamO will conduct a 4-in-1 health checkup of body temperature, heart, and lung health in under a minute, alerting users to possible fever and infection and detecting possible cardiovascular issues, including atrial fibrillation (AfiB), which is one of the most prevalent forms of arrhythmias. It also provides alerts in case heart rates are abnormal.
The BeamO app generates comprehensive health records over time by automatically syncing with the Withings app through the use of Wi-Fi. Withings has introduced new capabilities within the Withings App for BeamO and its entire family of connected health products. These capabilities make it even simpler to monitor health statistics over time, which can then be recorded and shared with others.
This is the first time that the Withings App has made it possible for users to upload information about their medications, set alerts and reminders, and log usage as well as side effects in order to manage dosage better and increase effectiveness. Users can view their full history of health readings, interpret their meanings and actionable advice, upload family medical health history, and create individual profiles to use and share Withings devices.
