Audi’s sales jump to an 89% increase in India: 3,744 units more than in 2022
Audi reported an 89% growth in retail sales in India in 2023, with 7,931 units sold compared to 4,187 units in 2022. New launches, such as the Q3 Sportback, Q8 e-tron, and Q8 Sportback e-tron, and continued demand for the A4, A6, and Q5 primarily drove the growth.
Top-end models like the Q7, Q8, A8 L, S5 Sportback, RS5 Sportback, RS Q8, e-tron GT, and RS e-tron GT also saw strong demand. Audi India Head Balbir Singh Dhillon stated that 2023 was another successful year for the company, with a growing retail footprint and a strong customer base.
In a press release, Audi gave more information, saying that sales of its SUVs grew by 174% in the previous year. The range of performance and lifestyle cars, which includes the e-tron, grew by 40%. The company said that every fourth person who buys an Audi in India does so again.
Audi India continued its strong performance last year, with one in every four customers being a repeat buyer. The pre-owned car business also saw 62% growth in 2023, and the brand plans to expand and add more pre-owned car facilities this year.
The company will also focus on digitalization and network expansion. However, Dhillon warned that the company may face supply chain disruptions in the March quarter due to the ongoing Red Sea crisis, which could lead to sales losses.
As part of Audi’s efforts to be more environmentally friendly, the company recently opened India’s first ultra-fast charging station in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). This super-fast charging station was designed and built with help from ChargeZone. It has an impressive total capacity of 450 kW, which means it can send 360 kW of power to an electric vehicle. It is made possible by a 500-amp liquid-cooled gun that ensures high performance and efficiency.
Using green energy, the ultra-fast charging station has a solar roof that helps with extra electrical needs like lighting. The Audi Q8 55 e-tron has a 114 kWh battery, which is India’s largest battery on a passenger car. It only takes 26 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%.
